At a stage in our lives when many of us expected to be enjoying the fruits of our labor and cruising toward retirement, we found ourselves living paycheck-to-paycheck, unemployed, underemployed, homes foreclosed on, separated, divorced, assisting aging parents, and in some cases, raising grandchildren instead. This self-produced style documentary is a testament to my own personal challenges of how I was affected by the 2008-10 recession and economic downturn. More specifically, how I chose to respond to its impact to rise like a “phoenix out of the ashes.”
